Heat & Comfort
My house gets extremely hot through the windows. Can window film help?
Yes. Solar window film is specifically designed to reduce the amount of solar heat entering through your glass.
The result depends on the film selected, the type of glass, the size and orientation of the windows and the amount of direct sunlight they receive. In suitable installations, solar film can make rooms noticeably more comfortable and reduce the workload on your air conditioning.
If your main problem is heat coming through south- or west-facing windows, large glass doors, conservatories or skylights, solar window film can be particularly effective.
Will window film actually make my room cooler?
It can make a significant difference to comfort, particularly in rooms that receive strong direct sunlight.
The exact temperature reduction varies from property to property, so we don't promise a specific number of degrees for every installation. Instead, we assess your glass, orientation and exposure and recommend a film appropriate for the conditions.
Which windows benefit most from solar film?
Windows exposed to strong direct sunlight usually benefit the most.
This can include:
- South-facing windows
- South-east and south-west-facing windows
- West-facing windows receiving strong afternoon sun
- Large sliding glass doors
- Conservatories and glass extensions
- Skylights and roof glazing
- Large villa windows
If one particular room is much hotter than the rest of your property, those windows are often a good place to start.
My west-facing windows make my house unbearably hot in the afternoon. Can film help?
Yes. West-facing glass can receive intense afternoon sunlight, creating both heat and glare.
Solar-control film can reduce the solar energy entering through the glass while allowing you to keep your view and natural light.
Will I need to use my air conditioning less?
Potentially, yes.
By reducing solar heat entering through the windows, solar film can reduce the cooling load on your air-conditioning system. How much you save depends on your property, insulation, existing windows, AC usage and the amount of solar heat entering through the glass.
Window film should therefore be viewed as a way of reducing solar heat gain, rather than as a guarantee of a specific percentage saving on your electricity bill
Will solar window film make my rooms dark?
Not necessarily.
Different films have very different levels of visible light transmission. Some films provide strong solar control while still allowing plenty of natural daylight into the room.
If keeping your room bright is important, we can recommend a film based on the balance you want between heat reduction, glare reduction and natural light.
I don't want to lose my view. Can I still use window film?
Yes.
Many solar films are designed to reduce heat and glare without blocking your outward view.
The appearance and level of reflectivity depend on the film selected. We can recommend a film that gives you the level of solar control you need while maintaining the appearance you want.
Glare, TV & Computer Screens
I can't watch my TV because of glare from the windows. Can window film help?
Yes. This is one of the most common reasons customers contact us.
Solar-control film can reduce the amount of reflected sunlight entering the room, making it easier to watch television without constantly closing curtains or blinds.
For example, if a living room has strong afternoon sunlight hitting the TV screen, the right film can significantly improve daytime viewing comfort.
Can window film reduce glare on my computer screen?
Yes. Reducing direct and reflected sunlight can make computer screens easier to see, particularly in home offices, commercial offices and rooms with large areas of glazing.
Privacy & Appearance
Can window film give me privacy during the day?
Yes, depending on the type of film.
Reflective privacy films can provide increased daytime privacy when the outside is brighter than the inside. They allow you to see out while making it more difficult for people outside to see in.
However, this effect changes when lighting conditions change.
Can people see through privacy film at night?
Yes, potentially.
Reflective privacy film is not automatically one-way privacy 24 hours a day.
At night, when your interior is brightly lit and it is darker outside, the privacy effect can reverse and people outside may be able to see in.
If you require privacy both during the day and at night, we can discuss alternatives such as frosted or opaque films.
I want privacy without making my windows look dark. Is that possible?
Yes. There are different types of privacy film, from reflective films to frosted and more opaque solutions.
The right choice depends on whether your priority is:
- Daytime privacy
- Night-time privacy
- Maximum privacy
- Keeping natural light
- Maintaining an outward view
- Improving the appearance of the glass
Will window film change the appearance of my house?
It can. Some films have a subtle appearance, while others have a stronger reflective or tinted effect. Clear films can be much less noticeable.
We can help you choose a film based not only on performance but also on how you want the finished windows to look from inside and outside.
UV Protection & Fading
Can window film protect my furniture from fading?
Yes. Quality window films can block a very high percentage of harmful UV radiation passing through the glass.
This can help reduce UV-related fading and deterioration of:
- Furniture
- Flooring
- Curtains
- Carpets
- Artwork
- Displays and interiors
However, fading is also affected by visible light, heat and the type of material, so window film cannot completely eliminate fading.
Does window film block UV rays?
Professional solar films can block up to 99% of UV radiation, depending on the specific product. This is one reason window film can be useful in homes and businesses with valuable interiors, furniture or displays.
Double Glazing & Glass Compatibility.
Can window film be installed on double-glazed windows?
Often, yes. However, not every film is suitable for every type of double glazing.
The correct film needs to be selected according to the glass construction, coatings, orientation and installation conditions.
Before recommending a film, we assess the glazing and select a product appropriate for the glass.
Can you install film on laminated or toughened glass?
Potentially, yes, depending on the glass construction and the film.
Different types of glass can behave differently when exposed to solar heat, so professional film selection is important.
Can the wrong window film damage my glass?
In some circumstances, selecting an unsuitable film for a particular glazing system can increase thermal stress.
This is one reason we don't recommend simply choosing a film based on appearance or price.
The film and the glass need to be considered together.
Do I need to replace my windows to reduce heat?
Not necessarily.
If your existing windows are structurally sound but allow too much heat, glare or UV into your property, solar window film can be a way of improving their solar-control performance without replacing the entire window.
This can be particularly attractive when you have large areas of glass or expensive-to-replace windows.
Conservatories, Skylights & Large Glass Areas
Can window film be installed on a conservatory?
Yes, subject to the type of glass.
Conservatories and glass extensions can become extremely hot because large areas of glass are exposed to direct sunlight.
Solar-control film can reduce solar heat and glare while allowing you to continue using the space during hot weather.
Can you install film on skylights?
Yes, provided the glazing is suitable for the selected film.
Skylights can receive very strong direct sunlight and can therefore be a significant source of heat and glare.
What about large sliding glass doors?
Large sliding doors are often excellent candidates for solar-control film because they can allow a substantial amount of solar heat into a room.
The film can also help reduce glare while maintaining access to natural light and the outdoor view.
Safety & Security
What is safety window film?
Safety window film is a strong film applied to glass to help hold broken glass together.
If the glass breaks, the film helps keep the fragments attached rather than allowing them to scatter as easily.
Depending on the product and installation, safety film can provide an additional layer of protection against accidental impact, vandalism and certain types of forced entry.
Can security film stop a burglar breaking my window?
Security film is not a guarantee against burglary and should not be described as an unbreakable barrier.
Its purpose is to help hold broken glass together and make it more difficult for an intruder to gain immediate access through the glass.
It can therefore form part of a wider security strategy.
Where can safety and security film be used?
It can be considered for many types of glazing, including:
- Patio and balcony doors
- Large residential windows
- Shopfronts
- Offices
- Schools
- Commercial premises
- Public buildings
The correct specification depends on the glass and the level of protection required.
Installation
Can I install window film myself?
It is technically possible to install some window films as a DIY project.
However, professional installation is recommended for large panes, specialist films, double glazing and installations where appearance and long-term performance are important.
Professional installation also allows us to assess the glass and use the appropriate preparation and installation methods.
How long does window film installation take?
Many residential installations can be completed in a day.
The actual time depends on:
- Number of windows
- Size of the glass
- Type of film
- Accessibility
- Preparation required
We can give you a more accurate estimate after seeing your property and the windows involved.
Will I see bubbles after installation?
Some moisture or small visual imperfections can be visible immediately after installation.
This is normal during the curing process.
As the film dries and cures, its appearance normally improves considerably. The exact curing time depends on the film, glass, temperature and environmental conditions.
When can I clean my windows after installation?
We normally recommend waiting approximately one week before cleaning newly installed film.
Use a non-abrasive, non-ammonia cleaner and a soft cloth or suitable squeegee.
Avoid sharp objects, abrasive pads and aggressive cleaning products that could damage the film.
Can window film be removed later?
Yes. Professionally installed window film can be removed when required.
The removal process depends on the age and type of film, but the glass itself can normally be left ready for a new film or returned to its original condition.
Cost & Value
How much does window film cost in Spain?
There isn't one fixed price because the cost depends on the film, the size and number of windows, the type of glass and the complexity of the installation.
For an accurate price, you can use our online price calculator or request a free quotation.
Is window film cheaper than replacing my windows?
In many situations, yes.
Window film can improve the solar-control and UV performance of existing glazing without the cost, building work and disruption involved in replacing the complete window.
However, film is not a replacement for a structurally defective or poorly insulated window.
If your existing windows are in good condition, film can be a cost-effective way of addressing problems such as heat, glare, UV exposure and privacy.
Will window film pay for itself through energy savings?
The payback period varies considerably between properties.
It depends on factors such as:
- How much glass you have
- Window orientation
- Solar exposure
- Your current air-conditioning usage
- Electricity costs
- Existing insulation
- The film selected
Rather than promising a fixed payback period for every property, we can assess your situation and explain where the biggest potential benefits are.
Solar Window Film in Spain
Does solar window film work well in Spain?
Yes. Spain's strong sunlight makes solar-control film particularly relevant for many homes and businesses.
It can be especially useful in areas with large areas of glass and strong direct solar exposure, including the Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, Costa Cálida and other parts of Southern Spain.
Does solar window film work in winter?
Solar window film is primarily designed to control solar heat and glare.
It can still be useful during winter on sunny days, but it should not be presented as a substitute for proper insulation or high-performance glazing.
If your main problem is winter heat loss rather than summer solar gain, we can discuss whether window film is the right solution for your particular windows.
Can window film reduce condensation?
Window film should not be considered a general solution for condensation or humidity.
Condensation is influenced by indoor humidity, ventilation, room temperature and the temperature of the glass.
If condensation is a problem, we recommend assessing the cause before choosing a film.

Property in Fuente Alamo
Recently we did this property in Fuente Alamo, Murcia which is south east facing and for that reason has a lot of Glare and Heat in the property. After installing our Titanium window film, the owner can now watch TV comfortably during the daytime, with significantly less glare and heat.
