Keep the sunshine. Lose the excessive heat.

If you live in Benahavis, Costa del Sol, you probably love having plenty of sunshine coming through your windows.

What does solar window film do?

Solar window film is applied directly to your existing glass. It helps reduce the amount of solar energy entering through the windows, while also reducing glare and UV exposure.

Depending on the film selected, it can help you:

  • Reduce heat coming through the glass
  • Reduce glare from the sun
  • Block up to 99% of harmful UV rays
  • Protect furniture, flooring and fabrics from fading
  • Improve comfort inside your home
  • Reduce the demand on your air conditioning

The best film depends on your glass, the direction your windows face and what you want to achieve!

Is solar window film good for Benahavis homes?

Yes — particularly for properties with large areas of glass.

We regularly see the same problem in sunny properties: beautiful large windows and sliding doors that look fantastic but allow too much heat inside.

Solar film can be particularly useful for:

  • Benahavis villas
  • Apartments and penthouses
  • Large sliding doors
  • South-facing windows
  • West-facing windows
  • Pool-facing glass
  • Home offices
  • Holiday homes

You don’t necessarily have to choose between keeping your views and keeping your home comfortable.

Frequently asked questions

See all our FAQ's and FACTS

Will solar film make my windows dark?

Not necessarily.

There are different films with different levels of light transmission and appearance. Some are designed to provide strong solar control while still allowing plenty of natural light and outward visibility. We’ll look at your property and discuss what you want before recommending a film.

The goal isn’t simply to make your windows darker. It’s to find the right balance between heat control, light, appearance and comfort.

Will I still be able to see outside?

In all solar window film applications, yes.

The level of visibility depends on the film you choose. If keeping your Marbella views is important, tell us — we’ll take that into consideration when recommending the film.

This is one of the reasons solar film can be an attractive alternative to simply closing blinds or curtains.

Can solar window film reduce air-conditioning use?

For 99.9% sure, it can help.

By reducing solar heat entering through the windows, the cooling load on your air-conditioning system can be reduced.

However, we don’t promise a particular reduction in your electricity bill because every property is different. Results depend on the size and orientation of the glass, existing glazing, insulation, air conditioning and the film selected.

Can you install solar film on double glazing and sliding doors?

Yes, but the type of glass matters.

Some windows are suitable for interior film, while certain reinforced, laminated or large areas of glass may require an exterior film. Just read why.

This is particularly important with large sliding doors and certain types of reinforced glass. Installing the wrong film in the wrong position can create unnecessary thermal stress.

That’s why we assess the glass with your pictures before recommending the product

Before & After — Luxury Villa in Benahavís

One of our recent Costa del Sol projects was a luxury villa in Benahavís, close to Marbella. The property had large south-facing windows and sliding doors. During the summer, the glass became extremely hot and the air conditioning struggled to keep the living space comfortable.

We installed TITAN 20 XTR solar window film on the glazing.

In the recorded test, the temperature behind the glass fell from 55°C to 27°C, while the room temperature fell from 36°C to 25°C. The result was a much more comfortable living space and less pressure on the air-conditioning system.

Important: this is a specific project result, not a guarantee of the same temperature reduction for every property!

How much does solar window film cost in Benahavis?

The price depends on the size of the glass, the type of film and the installation requirements. We price projects according to the amount of film required, rather than charging a standard price for every property. Your existing glass also matters because some installations require interior film and others exterior film.

The easiest way to get an accurate price is to send us photographs of your windows via WhatsApp. We’ll tell you what information we need and advise you on the next step.

Why choose Out of the Sun in Spain?

We’ve been working with our Hanita / Avery Dennison window film for more than 50 years, and our installation teams work across Málaga, Granada, Almería, Murcia and Alicante. Our company was founded in Netherlands in 1973 and since 2023 also working in Spain.

We don’t believe that one film is right for every window.

We look at your glass, your property and what you’re trying to achieve, then recommend the most suitable option. Good advice matters just as much as good film.
