Solar Window Film Alicante & Costa Blanca
Professional window film installation for homes, villas and businesses
Is the Alicante sun making your home too hot during the day?
Large windows and sliding doors are wonderful for bringing light, views and the Mediterranean outdoors into your home. But in summer, the same glass can allow a lot of solar heat and glare into your rooms.
Solar-control window film can help you enjoy the light and views while making your interiors more comfortable.
Window Film & Solar Control in Alicante and the Costa Blanca
At Out of the Sun in Spain, we supply and professionally install solar-control window film for homes, villas, apartments, offices and commercial properties throughout Alicante and the Costa Blanca.
Our approach is simple: we look at your glass, your property and the problem you are trying to solve before recommending a film.
Reduce heat · Reduce glare · Protect your interiors · Keep your existing windows
Send us photographs of your windows via our calculator and tell us where you are and what you would like to improve. We can then advise you on the most suitable options.
Why solar window film makes sense in Alicante
Alicante and the Costa Blanca have an abundance of sunshine, but properties experience that sunshine in very different ways.
- A south-facing villa in Jávea may have intense heat coming through large sliding doors in the afternoon.
- An apartment in Benidorm may need to reduce heat and glare while keeping its sea view.
- An amzing villa on one of Alicante's famous golf resorts, like the Vistabella Golf Resort in san Miguel de Salinas.
- A villa in Moraira or Altea may have extensive glazing that makes an open-plan living area uncomfortable during the hottest part of the day.
- An office in Alicante may have a completely different problem: glare on computer screens and excessive heat near the windows.
The right window film depends on the property and the problem.
Solar-control film is applied directly to the existing glass. It can reduce the amount of solar energy entering through the glazing without the disruption and expense of replacing your windows.
What can window film do?
The right film can help with several common problems experienced by properties on the Costa Blanca.
- Reduce heat through your windows
- Solar-control film helps reject part of the sun’s energy before it enters the room.
It can be particularly useful on:
South- or west-facing windows and large glass doors.
Conservatories and glazed extensions.
Bedrooms that overheat during the afternoon.
Bright living rooms and Double-height windows.
The result depends on the glazing, film selected, orientation, shading and other characteristics of the property. We therefore avoid promising a fixed temperature reduction for every installation.
Instead, we look at your particular windows and recommend a film that is appropriate for them.

Reduce glare without losing your view
Strong sunlight can make it difficult to watch television, work on a computer or simply relax comfortably in a bright room. A suitable solar-control film can reduce uncomfortable glare while still allowing natural light into the room.
This can be particularly useful for:
- Home offices
- Living rooms
- Bedrooms
- Television rooms
- Offices
- Restaurants
- Shops and showrooms
For properties with sea views, we can also discuss film options where maintaining good outward visibility is important.
Reduce UV exposure
Solar-control window films can significantly reduce UV transmission through the glass.
This can help protect interiors such as:
- Sofas and curtains
- Wooden floors
- Carpets and rugs
- Artwork and photographs
- Furniture
- Retail displays
Window film cannot prevent every form of fading, because visible light, heat, materials and exposure time also play a role. However, reducing UV exposure can be an important part of protecting your interiors.
Improve privacy
Privacy film can be useful for homes, apartments, offices, bathrooms, shops and other areas where you want to reduce visibility through the glass.
- Depending on the product, options can include reflective, frosted, etched and decorative effects.
- Privacy requirements are different from property to property, so we explain what a particular film can and cannot achieve before installation.
Add an extra layer of glass protection
Safety and security films are designed to help hold broken glass together when the glass is damaged.
They can be considered for selected:
- Doors
- Ground-floor windows
- Offices
- Shops
- Commercial premises
- Vulnerable glazed areas
Safety film is not a replacement for laminated security glass, locks, alarms or other security measures. We assess the application before recommending a suitable product.
Window film for Costa Blanca homes
Villas in Jávea, Moraira and Altea
Many Costa Blanca villas have large areas of glazing designed to make the most of the Mediterranean climate and outdoor views. The downside can be significant heat and glare, particularly through south- and west-facing windows and large sliding doors. For these properties, we can help you choose between more reflective, neutral or lighter films depending on your priorities. If you have a sea view, we understand that reducing heat is only part of the decision. You may also want to keep the view and avoid an overly mirrored appearance.
Apartments in Alicante and Benidorm
Apartments and penthouses often have balconies, sliding doors and large windows exposed to direct sunlight. Solar-control film can be considered for living rooms, bedrooms, home offices and other glazed areas where heat or glare is causing a problem. If your property is a holiday home or rental, window film can also be a practical way to improve daytime comfort without undertaking a major window replacement project.
Homes in Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa
Properties throughout the southern Costa Blanca often have bright living spaces, terraces and large glazed doors. Depending on your property, the priority may be:
Less heat · Less glare · More privacy · UV protection · Better comfort
We can help you identify which type of film makes the most sense for your windows.
Coastal properties in Calpe and Dénia
Coastal properties can experience intense direct sunlight as well as reflected light from the sea and surrounding surfaces. If your priority is keeping the room cooler while maintaining your view, we can recommend films with this in mind.
Businesses in Alicante and Elche
We also install window film for commercial properties, including:
- Offices
- Shops
- Restaurants
- Hotels
- Salons
- Showrooms
- Commercial buildings
For businesses, the priority may be reducing glare on screens, improving customer comfort, protecting displays or reducing solar heat entering through large areas of glass.
Where possible, we can plan installation around your normal opening hours to minimise disruption.
Solar window film for existing glass
One of the main advantages of window film is that you normally don’t need to replace your existing windows. Film can be installed on many existing glazing systems, including many double-glazed windows and large glazed areas. However, not every film is suitable for every type of glass.
Before recommending a product, we consider factors such as:
- Single or double glazing
- Glass type
- Glass size
- Existing coatings
- Low-E or other specialist glass
- Window orientation
- Direct sunlight
- Existing blinds or shutters
- Whether the film will be installed internally or externally
This is why we don’t simply recommend the darkest film available. The film that works well on one property may not be the right choice for another.
Which solar window film is right for your Alicante property?
We supply and install premium solar-control films, including HANITA / Avery Dennison products.
We can discuss different options depending on whether your priority is:
- Maximum solar control
- For rooms that receive strong direct sunlight and become uncomfortably hot.
Reduced glare
- For televisions, computer screens, offices and living areas.
A more neutral appearance
- For homeowners who want solar control without a strongly mirrored appearance.
Privacy
- Where reducing visibility through the glass is important.
Exterior installation
- For selected glazing where an external solar-control film is the appropriate solution.
There isn’t one “best” film for every Alicante property.
The right choice depends on your glass, orientation, room, views and what you want the film to achieve.
How much does solar window film cost in Alicante?
We believe you should be able to understand the likely cost before arranging an installation. Our solar-control films currently start from €99 per m² installed, including IVA, with different prices depending on the film and installation requirements.
The final price depends on factors including:
- Total glass area
- Film selected
- Interior or exterior installation
- Type of glazing
- Access to the windows
- Installation requirements

Frequently asked questions
Read our FACTS, Case studies and download our window film technical specifications.
Can solar window film be installed on double glazing?
In many cases, yes. However, double glazing can vary considerably depending on the glass type, coatings, thickness, spacing and condition.
We therefore assess the glazing before recommending a particular film, especially for large panes, low-E glass and windows exposed to strong direct sunlight.
Will solar window film make my home dark?
Not necessarily. Solar-control films are available in different shades, reflectivity levels and performance characteristics.
We can recommend lighter or more neutral options where maintaining natural light and outward visibility is particularly important.
Can window film reduce my air-conditioning costs?
Solar-control film can reduce the amount of solar heat entering through the glass, which may reduce the cooling demand placed on your air conditioning.
However, the actual energy saving depends on the building, glazing, insulation, window orientation, air-conditioning system, thermostat settings and weather.
We therefore don’t promise a fixed percentage saving.
Is solar film suitable for a sea-view property?
Yes, in many cases. The key is choosing a film that gives you the solar control you need without unnecessarily compromising the view or creating an appearance you don’t like.
We’ll discuss the balance between heat reduction, glare, reflectivity, natural light and visibility before recommending a film.
Can you install film on sliding glass doors?
Yes, depending on the glazing and the film selected. Large sliding doors are often one of the areas where solar-control film can make a noticeable difference, particularly when they receive strong direct sunlight.
For some doors and glazing systems, an exterior film may be more appropriate.
How long does installation take?
It depends on the number and size of windows, the type of film, access and the complexity of the installation.
Once we understand your project, we can give you a more accurate indication.
Is window film better than replacing my windows?
They solve different problems. Replacing windows may be worthwhile when the existing frames or glazing need upgrading for insulation, acoustics or other reasons.
If your existing windows are in good condition and your main problem is heat, glare, UV exposure or privacy, window film can be a much less disruptive way to improve the performance of the existing glass.
Can I send photographs for a quotation?
Yes. In fact, this is often the easiest way to start.
Send us:
- Your location
- Photos of the windows
- Approximate measurements
- The direction the windows face, if known
What problem you are trying to solve We’ll review the information and advise you on the next step. USE OUR FREE ADVICE & QUOTE FORM.
Ready to make your Alicante home more comfortable?
You don’t necessarily need to replace your windows to reduce the effect of the Costa Blanca sun. The right solar-control window film can help reduce heat and glare, protect your interiors from UV exposure and make heavily glazed rooms more comfortable.

- Send us a few photographs of your windows.
