A south-facing villa in Jávea, Alicante, was becoming uncomfortably hot through its large glazed naya windows. The owners wanted to reduce heat and glare while keeping their existing double glazing and enjoying the views.

Out of the Sun in Spain installed Silver 20 XTR external solar window film. After installation, the property recorded a temperature reduction of 8°C during the midday sun, making the room noticeably cooler and more comfortable.

Silver 20 XTR technical performance

On double glazing, the product datasheet states:

• 85% total solar energy rejected.
• 80% glare reduction.
• 99% ultraviolet light blocked.
• 16% visible light transmission. 

The result:

• The Silver 20 XTR film reduced the heat entering through the south-facing glass while allowing the owners to continue using the naya during the hottest part of the day.
• The film also reduced glare and helped protect furniture, flooring and fabrics from ultraviolet exposure. The existing windows did not need to be replaced.
• Measured result: 8°C cooler during midday sunshine.
• The 8°C reduction is the recorded result from this installation. Actual results vary according to the glass, window orientation, room size, shading, ventilation and outdoor temperature.
